His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Tinle Lhundup (直贡法王赤列伦珠) is the 37th inheritor of the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and the seventh reincarnation of His Holiness Drikung Chetsang.
His Holiness is highly respected and loved by worshippers all over the world for his dharma lineage inheritance and also for his practice of positivity. In 1950, His Holiness began to fulfill his obligations by promoting Dharma and benefiting those living in the Himalayas district. Since1987, his accomplishments reached near and far, meeting the needs of millions of people. He established Buddhist temples and monasteries for the cultivation of monks. His Holiness has guided many people towards the path of enlightenment, and encourages his followers to be good and generous.
His Holiness is also a public welfare activist who has always been committed to environmental protection, education and humane care.
For his outstanding contributions to environmental protection and humanities, His Holiness was invited to serve as the honorary director of the International Native Rehabilitation Action Association (INRAA). He was awarded the title as the Ambassador of the Mountain Partnership of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO, UN) and the Global Mentor Award.
His Holiness has launched an environmental program around the Himalayan foothills. Furthermore, His Holiness promoted the ICE STUPA project (冰雪佛塔专案), which works to alleviate local seasonal drought. In order to improve the situation of the local residents in barren settlements, His Holiness supported the establishment of the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives and enlightened the youth in these mountainous areas with the combination of local traditional wisdom and modern technology, as well as meaningful higher education. His Holiness provides a viable force for the sustainable development of local environmental protection.
The Songtsam Library (松赞图书馆) built by His Holiness has become the only research center for studying Tibetan and Himalayan cultures on an international scale, housing a vast collection of Dunhuang documents unearthed along the Silk Road dating back to the 4th century. His Holiness has opened up the entire library’s resources to academia free of charge.
In 2015, His Holiness promoted the Great Shravasti Project (舍卫国大计划) in Shravasti, a holy land for Buddhist heritage located in India, planning religious cultural festivals and building non-denominational communities. His Holiness sincerely welcomes people from all walks of life to pray for world peace, to cooperate for ecological protection and to be concerned with global issues.
Aiming to make the concept of “Mutual love” and “Symbiosis” benefit more fields, His Holiness has established the Shravasti Awards, paying tribute to those who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of spiritual leadship, humanities and environmental protection. It is also expected that more people can answer the call to care for life, create welfare, protect the ecology and build a harmonious homeland together that transcends the barriers of races, religions and national boundaries in an effort to lead mankind into a healthier and better life.
His Holiness advocates practice and spreads the teachings of the most physical and mental experience to all parts of the world. The Drikung has more than 200 monasteries around the world. Songtsen Library, founded by the King of Dharma, is the only international center for the study and research of Tibetan and Himalayan culture. His Holiness sincerely invites the public to join in the attention and support of the Shravasti Awards. Our participation paves way for the benefit of all living beings.
